Dear Elementary Priority School Principal,
We hope you are having a wonderful week. Thank you for your flexibility in receiving a Study Smart tutor for STEAM instructional support this week. A few schools will receive them beginning next week. We apologize for the delayed detailed communication about the program to follow up on the announcement in the Weekly Update.
ETO is excited to support STEAM implementation by deploying Study Smart Tutors as STEAM Lab Instructional assistants. Over the next two weeks, your assigned Study Smart STEAM support person will focus on logistics, such as unpacking and organizing your STEAM Lab, STEAM enrichment and robotics materials from ETO. They may also support you in creating a STEAM lab schedule for your site, if you don’t already have one. The Steam assistant will be on site from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
After the first few weeks, your STEAM aide will also facilitate afterschool STEAM and Robotics clubs in coordination with your Beyond the Bell after-school program. From 12:00 p.m. until the end of the school day, the assistant will be planning and preparing for hands-on after school activities, but they may also prepare science and STEAM materials requested by teachers for their investigations and lessons in the classroom and/or in the STEAM Lab. Additional information about launching after school groups is forthcoming.
We ask that each school designates a certificated point of contact for communication about this program and to ensure the STEAM aid has access to the enrichment materials and the STEAM Lab for organizing these first few weeks.
