Hello, Principal Guzman-Murdock –
Your school is invited to attend a 5-day, overnight outdoor learning experience at Clear Creek Outdoor Education Center (OEC) from Monday, March 10 - Friday, March 14, 2025.
Clear Creek OEC is an LAUSD facility located in Angeles National Forest near the foothill community of La Cañada-Flintridge.
This outdoor learning experience is provided by Beyond the Bell’s Outdoor and Environmental Education (OEE) Program and is free of charge for schools, which includes lodging, meals, and transportation services. Our curriculum aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) while emphasizing the importance of social-emotional wellness.
Our program staff are district employees and are trained in CPR and First Aid. We require the participation of one certificated staff member per 40 students, as our staff will meet the 10:1 ratio requirement. The certificated staff member will have opportunities to lead lessons and activities with students.
Schools invited to participate may provide this opportunity to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students, with priority given to 5th grade. This fulfills the commitment outlined in the Immersive Outdoor Education Opportunities board resolution (Res-019-20/21), which ensures that all 5th grade students are given the opportunity to participate in an outdoor learning experience.
You are invited to send 40 students (20 girls maximum, 20 boys maximum). Unless notified otherwise by our office, schools must not exceed the maximum number of participants due to capacity and student housing arrangements.
To confirm your trip, please reply to this email by 2pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
Upon receiving your confirmation, we will begin the iFieldTrip process for you. Our camp staff will then schedule a virtual orientation to provide an overview of the site and program, review paperwork, and to address any questions you may have.
For more information about our Outdoor and Environmental Education Program, please call Gerardo Salazar, Coordinator, at 213-241-2692.
Thank you,
Jenny Guzman-Murdock
